COVID-Related Underwriting Questions on the Rise

Summer 2020 Issue

By Melissa Stream, Underwriting Consultant

This summer may present some unique underwriting questions.

We made it to summer and just about everything is canceled, except the weather. Clients may be looking for new ways to relax and have fun at home and maintain social distancing. They may decide to invest in a pool or backyard playground set, or even a trampoline. Many of these are considered liability risks, especially because they are attractive to children and require safety mechanisms, as well as additional supervision.

Another scenario we are seeing is that due to the various public health orders, commercial venues are canceling previously planned weddings. The couple may opt to have the event at their home or another family member’s home. These are situations where we often recommend contacting the WRC Agency for a special events policy.

When you have underwriting questions about these recreational exposures, you can be sure that the Mutual Assistance Team at WRC is here to help.
