Thimble, Underwritten by Markel, Is Here for Your Short-Term CLG Needs
We introduced you to Thimble last year and think you may find it helpful to learn more about its best features, and review how to get a quote and bind coverage for your clients.
Thimble provides coverage to over 130 professions, including:
- Contractors and handymen
- Crafters and makers
- Events and entertainment
- Fitness and personal trainers
- Freelancers and consultants
- Hair and beauty professionals
- Janitors and cleaners
- Landscaping
- Pet sitters
- Photographers and videographers
Using Thimble
To use Thimble, your client will need to sign up by entering their email, first and last name, and creating a password. They also can go here.
Then we will need to know:
- Profession
- ZIP code
- Coverage effective and expiration dates
- Who needs coverage
- Liability coverage amounts
- Names and emails of additional insureds — who can be added for no extra cost — and a description of operations
- Add-ons they want to purchase for their profession
Clients also should know that terrorism coverage is automatically included.
When the policy is purchased, the client will get an email with the policy, receipt of payment and certificate(s) requested.
Once a client’s account is set up, the system recognizes their email address. The email then syncs the policy to your agency, ensuring commission is earned with little to no effort on your part. Just be sure to let WRC Agency know that you referred a client so we can properly pay your commission.
Professional liability can be bundled with a CGL policy, and all clients can pre-book their coverage up to six months in advance. If a client needs to cancel a policy, they only need to give 24 hours’ notice before the policy effective date for a full refund. Later notice will result in midterm cancellation and will be refunded on a pro-rata basis.

What Our Agents Are Saying
Tom Stack of Stack Insurance Services LLC in Glenwood City, Wisconsin, recently wrote a policy through Thimble and was impressed by how user-friendly the process was. “Thimble was easy to use,” he said. “Sara sent me a link, I filled in the app, edited what was needed, and within 15 to 20 minutes we had a bound policy. We were able to print the needed certificates of insurance right away. We wrote a temporary, four-hour-long policy to suit our three-hour need and the policy was less than $60. We think it’s great!”
