Claims Representative: Level 2-3

Reports to: Claims Manager

Exempt (not subject to overtime)

  • Claims Adjuster – Applies claims handling best practices to resolve coverage, liability and damage questions. Negotiations leverage claim file investigation details to achieve appropriate results. Recognizes not all claims are the same and appropriate claim handling may involve using different skills or approaches. Timely, clear and professional file documentation and communication. Uses resources effectively. Demonstrates ongoing learning.

Other Competencies (knowledge, skills and abilities) required of candidates:

  • Skills in handling claims with a greater level of complexity than primary assignments
  • Preference for Commercial Claims Experience, Homeowners, Farmowners or General Liability experience
  • If no Commercial Claims experience, then extensive Auto Claims experience and exposure to Liability Claims from Homeowners and Farmowners policies
  • Remote employee acceptable

Educational Requirements:

  • College degree
  • Claims Representative experience with additional self-study, AIC or CPCU in progress

Lifting Requirements:

  • Minimal

Responsibilities (Primary/Secondary/Other):

  • Handles a broader array of claim types with greater levels of complexity than primary level assignments
  • Demonstrates skills in handling claims involving multiple insureds and or claimants
  • Demonstrates the ability to negotiate damages and apportionment of fault on array of claims handled
  • Developing or demonstrated skills on common coverage issues
  • Developing of demonstrated skills in identifying potential for coverage issues
  • May be developing additional knowledge or skills in litigation, subrogation, arbitration, fraud, etc., beyond what is required for the primary level
  • Requires routine supervisory attention for areas of developed skills and close supervisory attention for developing skills
  • Other duties as assigned by Claims Managers
