History

The WRC Agency was established in 1981 to provide a facility for mutual agents to place business that they could not place with the mutual company. The intent was, and still is, to provide alternatives for the policyholders and agents of the mutual companies.

Originally the primary line of business was personal automobile insurance. In 1991, WRC formed 1st Auto to fill this need, and the business was transferred to 1st Auto. The WRC Agency then created a telemarketing program that allowed mutual agents the ability to market 1st Auto's products to their clients, permitted an auto/home discount to compete with other carriers that offered a similar program.

Later, a Lead Referral program was created so the mutual agents could refer their clients to the WRC Agency and have them quote and service the auto business, while still maintaining the auto/home discount.

Over time, the WRC Agency expanded the number of personal auto insurance companies to our portfolio. As additional needs were identified, recreational vehicle carries, bonding companies, and many other types of speciality and standard companies were added to broaden the spectrum of products the WRC Agency offers.

The WRC Agency grew not only in the types and and number of quality products it offered, but also in the areas where we can offer them. Currently the WRC Agency has products available in Wisconsin, as well as, Iowa, South Dakota, Arkansas, and Missouri. As our parent company Wisconsin Reinsurance Corporation moves into additional states, the WRC Agency will offer its products and services as well.
